EuroSim Licenses
A EuroSim license gives the licensee the right to install and run the EuroSim software on a single specific computer. Single user licenses are aimed at desktop usage and allow only one user to use EuroSim, whereas multi user licenses are aimed at server systems and can service as many users as possible, being limited only by the performance of the server. There are several licenses offered, depending on the host platform and the required functionality.

LINUX Licenses

Host Computer
EuroSim for Linux runs on all Intel 32 bit platforms (64 bit development in progress). EuroSim for Linux is currently offered for the following distributions:
  • Red Hat Linux 8.0
  • Red Hat Linux 9
  • Fedora 10
  • Debian 6.0
  • SuSE Linux 10.0
  • SuSE Linux 10.1
  • OpenSUSE 10.2
  • OpenSUSE 10.3
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • Concurrent RedHawk 4.2
Due to the fast increasing number of Linux distributions, the EuroSim consortium has limited the off the shelf available distributions to the most common and stable baselines. It is however possible to provide EuroSim for other distributions, though such special requests may come at an additional charge. Please contact the EuroSim consortium for details.

The license-types offered cover single user desktop and multi user server platform usage with real-time performance. However, execution on multi-processor platforms is restricted to the mechanisms inherent to LINUX, no additional features are provided. In addition, though EuroSim is capable of hard real-time simulation, such real-time capability is dependent on the hardware that the license is installed on and is the responsibility of the licensee.

When hard real-time behavior is essential, the customer is advised to order an integrated real-time simulation system from the consortium. Selecting the hardware, adjusting bios settings, integrating special interface cards and verifying real-time behavior requires specialised knowledge in which the consortium had gained substantial experience. When ordering a real-time simulation system, the customer receives a complete real-time tuned and certified system from the consortium, containing the computer, the ordered EuroSim license and any specially requested additional cards. A performance report is included that characterises the real-time performance of the system. This solution is currently only provided on the basis of a Concurrent RedHawk computer. Please contact the consortium for details and quotes.

Licence Type
EuroSim for Linux is delivered as a set of executable programs plus the Efo-Library, needed when generating an executable model (simulator). Besides the full license, there is a Trial License available that supports a three-month trial period.

License Scope
The license scope:
  • single user desktop licenses allow at most one user; multi user server licenses allow unlimited users, with at most one running real-time;
  • includes 3 months warranty;
  • includes cost for integral third party products and media;
  • excludes any of the optional products (see the page on 'EuroSim: Hardware and Software Requirements' for further details).

Windows Licenses

Host Computer
EuroSim for Windows is currently only supported in the single user Desktop variant for Windows XP (Windows 7 (or 8) to be expected with the next major release). Execution on multi-core/processor platforms is restricted to the mechanisms inherent to Microsoft Windows, no additional features are provided. This means that multiple cores or processors can increase the performance, but will not insure real-time guarantees. In addition, EuroSim on Windows XP currently does not support real-time execution.

Licence Type
EuroSim for Windows is delivered as a set of executable programs plus the Efo-Library, needed when generating an executable model (simulator). Besides the full license,there is a Trial License available that supports a three-month trial period.

License Scope
The license scope:

  • Windows licenses are only offered in single user form, only for Windows XP and only running non real-time;
  • includes 3 months warranty;
  • includes cost for integral third party products and media;
  • excludes any of the optional products (see the page on 'EuroSim: Hardware and Software Requirements' for further details).

Silicon Graphics Licenses

Host Computer
EuroSim for Silicon Graphics runs on all SGI workstations, under Irix 6.5. Licenses are available for single and multiprocessor platforms. The choice and/or number of platforms needs to take the following factors into account:
  • the required characteristics: certain functional (eg. external interrupts) and performance (eg. hard real-time) characteristics can only be achieved on the multi-processor versions of the SGI workstations;
  • the type of simulation: although several users can run simulations simultaneously, only one real-time simulation can be performed at any one time;
  • the budget: there is a price differential between the license for a single processor workstation and a multi processor one .
License Type
EuroSim can be delivered in various 'operational' forms. For example, it is possible to have a run-time only version which can be delivered with an application specific model as a ready-to-run simulator to an end-user. Note that in order to build such a specific simulator in EuroSim, a user license is required. The two license types are:
  • user license: EuroSim is delivered as a set of executable programs plus the Efo-Library, needed when generating an executable model (simulator);
  • run-time license: this is the license needed to deliver a specific simulator, based on EuroSim, to an end-user. (This allows the end-user to perform simulations with a given model.) Only a sub-set of the EuroSim executables is delivered and no libraries are included.
License Prices
The license scope:
  • includes 3 months warranty;
  • includes cost for integral third party products and media;
  • excludes any of the optional products (eg. PVWave; see the page on EuroSim: Hardware and Software Requirements for further details).
There are various reductions available on these list prices, for example for ESA on-site licenses, for introductory licenses, etc. Options which are available can be discussed on request.

Extensions
Various extensions are available for EuroSim, for example, configuration control, Embedded Simulator support, DIS and hardware interfaces. Possibilities for these can be discussed as required.
