EuroSim Hardware and Software Requirements
Hardware Requirements

EuroSim is available for IRIX, Linux and Windows NT/XP platforms.

EuroSim/IRIX works on Silicon Graphics single and multi-processor platforms running IRIX 6.5. For hard realtime performance, a multi-processor system is needed (e.g. the Origin family). It is also possible to run EuroSim on a single processor workstation such as a Fuel or Tezro, in which case simulation of models occurs under less stringent realtime conditions.

EuroSim/Linux works on 32 bit Intel platforms running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0, Concurrent Redhawk 5.4, Fedora 10, Debian 6.0, Note that some older and alternative releases are available as the consortium has to maintain sold licenses for specific platforms. If the desired release is not on the list, please contact the consortium to identify if the release can be made available and if additional charges apply as no support is currently available. For hard realtime performance, a multi-processor (core) system is needed. It is also possible to run EuroSim on a single processor (core) platform (standard PC or laptop), in which case simulation of models occurs under less stringent realtime conditions.
This version has been ported to a PowerPC based single processor board for use in an embedded environment. The development platform is running on an Apple iBook running Mandrake 8. Simulators developed on the iBook run transparently on the target system.

EuroSim/Windows works on Intel platforms running Windows NT/2000/XP. The consortium has no demand for Windows Vista but does foresee the release of a Windows 7 compliant EuroSim at the next major release. EuroSim/Windows is currently a platform to develop soft real-time applications and at present offers less extensive functionality when compared to EuroSim/IRIX and EuroSim/Linux. A COM interface is available which allows users to control EuroSim simulations on all supported platforms.

Software Requirements
EuroSim makes use of some commercial products for certain specialised activities (eg. compilers, data analysis). Not all products are needed at each installation; it depends on your particular project, eg. in what language(s) are the sub-models programmed.
In summary, the optional commercial software for EuroSim/IRIX consists of:
  • SGI developer's option (C compiler and linker)
  • SGI F77 compiler;
  • GNAT: Ada Translater; Ada95;
  • data analysis tools: PV-Wave 5.0 command language;
  • desktop publisher (for User Manual): FrameMaker.
  • 3D Image Generation: SGI Performer 3.0

There is no optional commercial software required for EuroSim/Linux and EuroSim/Windows.

Any such commercial software needs to be available on-site prior to the EuroSim installation. A list of suppliers for these products is given below. In the case of enquiries outside the Netherlands, the named supplier should be able to provide a local contact.
