EuroSim Foundation Training Course ( 1 day, up to 8 persons/class)
The EuroSim foundation training course addresses the product application domain and content and takes the user through the
simulation life-cycle. The majority of time is spent on following the phases of model development
and scheduling through to mission development and finally to test
execution and analysis. It assumes no previous knowledge of the
use of EuroSim as a simulation tool. A final activity is learning how to
troubleshoot a failing simulator, using debugging tools to find errors.
The course is suitable for all types of EuroSim users, from
Model Developers (software engineers producing a model in code
which will run under EuroSim) to Test Conductors (domain
specialists carrying out and interacting with the simulation) to
Test Analysts (domain specialists analysing the test results).
The course is equally suitable for project managers as an
introduction to EuroSim. Whilst a basic knowledge of C and Fortran
are an advantage for the activities concerned with development of
the model, this is not absolutely necessary. The aim is to provide
all participants with a basic understanding of the use of EuroSim,
both in their primary fields of interest, and to give an
appreciation of the other activities.
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
-
understand the simulation activities supported by EuroSim;
-
understand and use API facilities provided by EuroSim;
-
build a model from sub-models and define the data dictionary items;
-
identify model tasks and schedule those tasks;
-
define simulation execution conditions for the model;
-
execute the model and its mission, interacting with the execution on-line;
-
know how to troubleshoot a failing simulator with symbolig debugging and timing debugging tools
-
analyse the test data and journal files;
-
set up new projects and users for those projects.
The foundation training course lasts 1 day, the majority of the
time being spent working through the simulation life-cycle using a
case study. The final section has a more flexible format: after
completion of any outstanding case study activities, participants
are encouraged to investigate EuroSim functions according to their
own particular interests.
Ideas are available from the trainer, but participants may
wish to bring project specific material along to the course in
order to begin developing their own models for example, or
designing a mission. The training is given by a simulation
specialist who has significant experience with the use of EuroSim.
The hands-on nature of the training means that the ratio of
trainers to participants is kept high. Training can be carried out
at Airbus Defence and Space (Leiden) or on-site, assuming that an appropriate
EuroSim installation is available. Costs depend on the number of
participants and location: please contact EuroSim Product Support
to discuss your needs.
