EuroSim Developer Training Course ( 2-3 days, max 8 persons)

The EuroSim Developer Training Course teaches simulation developers how to design and create complex real-time simulators with EuroSim. The focus in this course is on integration of models, hardware and software-in-the-loop in a configurable manner, utilizing advanced features of EuroSim interfaces and capabilities. The course builds on the broad knowledge gained in the foundation course and extends it with deeper insight in concepts and features, as well as with additional model APIs and integration features.

At the end of the course, participants will have an understanding of:
  • the EuroSim system concepts for real-time simulator creation;
  • the EuroSim model import mechanisms for models in C, C++, Java, SMP2 and Matlab/Simulink;
  • the EuroSim's real-time model integration concepts and support mechanisms;
  • the advanced real-time scheduler features;
The developer training course lasts 2 to 3 days, depending on the proficiency and experience of the participants in EuroSim and software engineering in hard real-time systems. Experience in teaching this course is that 2 days is insufficient to teach the entire curriculum. The course can be shortened by leaving out some less essential modules where the customer has no intention to use those features. For example the customer can choose to leave out most of the APIs and thereby reduce the course duration. Please consult the EuroSim consortium to discuss the selection of course modules.

The foundation course is a prerequisite to the developer course. The knowledge of the runtime course is not required. When more then 4 persons follow the course, trainees have to work in groups of two, sharing oen computer per group.

As the complexity increases, exercises will require more software engineering knowledge and experience than was the case in the Foundation course. This makes the developer course progress highly dependable on the proficiency of trainees. An average proficiency is assumed. If progress is faster then anticipated, the remaining time can be filled with presentations of test facilities developed by the EuroSim consortium, providing valuable insight and experience. On request the course can be extended for one or more days, allowing in depth discussion of specific EuroSim aspects. The training is given by a software engineer who has significant experience with the development of EuroSim.

The hands-on nature of the training means that the ratio of trainers to participants is kept high. Training can be carried out at Airbus Defence and Space Netherlands (Leiden) or on-site, assuming that an appropriate EuroSim installation is available. Costs depend on the number of participants and location: please contact EuroSim Product Support to discuss your needs.
